Customer Review: Way too complicated, overkill on the functions

This is just way over the top, an example of too much technology for its own good. The buttons are too small and the display too dark to read, and somehow it never seems to go on & off when I wanted it to. I've had it with this.

Customer Review: Fairly simple timer with lots of features

We got this timer initially to make our coffee at work in the morning without having the cleaning lady get up early to do it, and it works great for that. The range of days that you can set this timer makes it nice, because we can have it plugged in with the coffee and water in the pot already and it will only turn on M-F.

It was a little complicated to program at first, because there is an override button (make sure it is on auto if you want the timer to work right!) on it and the display is a little overcrowded, but it sure doesn't take an electronics expert to this machine out, either. I like the idea of having batteries built in as well, because our power tends to blink here. I do wish it didn't take up both wall outlets (too high), but that's not a very big issue for us. You could just plug a short extension into the wall and then plug this unit in (fire issues?) if you need both outlets.

In general, this is a good timer with some nice features if you're willing to put up with a mediocre interface and display.

Customer Review: Fab timer!

We have this timer at work. We use it to turn the water cooler/combo hot water on and off at the beginning and end of each shift. This is not your grandmother's timer. It lets you set the time to turn things on and off and when we got hit by a close thunderstorm mine froze up for a while. Once the battery ran down, however, I was able to recharge it and it worked fine. Not that's reliable if you ask me.

A classic watch with the indigo light and timex reliability plus an affordable price. You gotta love this watch. I wasted a lot more money on an Invicta 8926 dive watch that is automatic and nothing but problems. The Timex is great. The only issue is that the water resistance is 50 meters which really is not adequate for diving or swimming. That is not an issue for me however as I use it to tell time day or night above water!

I ordered both this and the all stainless steel version. I am very pleased with both. I admit, I purchased the watches after seeing the movie "Stranger Than Fiction". Of course, the watch does not have all of the features that are in the movie but both watches are heavy, good quality & great looking. I just re-ordered the "black" watch after a quad accident this past weekend that deeply scratched the crystal and bezel. The watch is still working great but will now be used only for backpacking, quad riding and other outdoor activities where looks don't matter.

I have been through a lot of watches in the last ten years. The problem is that I was spending too much money on watches with fancy names that weren't very good or dependable. I saw this watch on sale and picked it up. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. The band was a bit big, but the jewlery store was able to resize it perfectly for just a few bucks. What I like about this watch is that it is very simple and looks great. I don't need the date on my watch because if I forget what day it is my problems are greater than my watch. I just wanted a normal looking watch that works, and this one is perfect for me. For the design, the quality and the price you just can't go wrong. Just bought this watch as a replacement for pop-pop's old watch that he's had for over 10 years. Although his old watch still kept perfect time, the band broke (more like wore-out) and he replaced the band with an even more hideous band he found from an older watch, so I just had to get him a new watch. I had looked at getting him a more pricey, kinetic watch with lots of features and styling, but I know he just absolutely LOVES the Timex Indiglo feature and the expandable band, plus the easy-read dial is great for reading the time with his glasses off. I know he would not be happy with anything else but another Timex.

As noted, this watch has a very good set of features. The display is easy to read in all modes. The day and date appear on the time screen, which I think is a plus. The watch is set like most other Timexes, easily and intuitively. BUT the set buttons are very small, very hard, require a lot of pressure, and hurt to press.

Customer Review: Perfect 10 - what this deserves !

I have had T66801 for over 5 years now. Always wanted T51931 because of the exact same functions of T66801 but with a black finish.

Recently while shopping at Timex store, I happened to notice T51931 on sale for $24.99. I picked it up without blinking.

Now I have the two best watches ever designed by Timex. I don't think I have to buy another watch for a decade or so.

It's got the right amount of features for a sports watch designed in the late 90s.

This was a better price than that of the home centers near me for a mechanical timer. I had run the usual two-wire plus ground to the switch box, closed up the wall [in my bathroom], and when I decided to use a timer instead of a simple switch, I was missing a third wire [white-neutral] for a digital timer. I had to go with the mechanical timer. I don't like it as much as the digital timers, but it works. It is a bit noisy; if it "snaps-off" while I'm asleep, it startles me. Oh, well, it does the job.

The tide, temp and compass feature works perfectly, provided you follow the instruction and calibrate, especially for the tide and compass feature.

Overall this watch looks great, is easy to set, and feels nicely made. I give it a 4/5 rating. The square face gives it a classic look, and yet the design is quite contemporary at the same time. I wear it to work and it feels comfortable and looks professional.

Why not a 5/5? The watch has condensation inside the face glass after only one short spell in the pool one afternoon. My fault, and normally I would have taken the watch off, but I wasn't actually swimming - I was holding my 2 year old daughter up in the water in the shallow end. So disregard the 50 meter water resistant rating, it means nothing real.

This is an update to a previous review where I gave the watch at 2/5. What was wrong before? The instructions for adjusting the bracelet length are incorrect, so previously I only gave this a 2 as I was left with a dangling bracelet of a watch and no way to adjust it. However, I emailed Timex and they sent me the correct and helpful instructions so I was able to adjust the length.

This watch is good looking. It has a brilliant chrome plated finish (polished stainless steel). Looks fashionable and sturdy too. The only thing I don't like too much about it is the numbers. They are made of steel and therefore they don't glow in the dark. I tought (by looking at the picture) the numbers were white. Other than that it is a great buy and well worth the money.

Customer Review: Worst Purchase EVER!

This watch was ridiculous! I tried 4 different times to get this watch to work on long runs. Only once did I get the GPS to connect to the watch. I thought for $165 I could get a decent alternative to the Garmin - I was wrong. I have returned the watch, which is a WHOLE story in itself. I still haven't gotten credited for the return after 2 ½ weeks. I called Jomashop, which Amazon outsourcers to and after sitting on hold for 20 minutes was told I would get my refund maybe in a week. Hum.............Not a great shopping experience.

I've had the Timex Body Link for 3 year and absolutely love it! Using the heart rate monitor & GPS is very simple, all you have to do is turn them on push the red display button and they start working. There are also a number of different display settings for enthusiasts to customize.

The watch comes with a heart rate monitor (chest strap) and a GPS piece. The GPS comes with a arm band and belt clip accessories. This is not a watch with GPS built in like Garmin watches.

Timex also sells a data recorder that works with the Body Link system, but I would not buy it again since the software that comes with it is pretty worthless. Besides, most of the information you would want to track can be stored in the watch and written down later.

Pros:

- Easy to get started with

- 100 lap memory

- Loads of different display modes

- Reasonably small compared to other GPS watches

- Great price

- Heart rate recovery timer

Cons:

- GPS needs a lot of "open" sky to work properly, if you plan on running on forest trails or in the city with a lot of high rise buildings the GPS can't lock on to enough satellites.

Customer Review: Very cool, very big, not very well made

It was time for a watch. I'd been reading about GPS and compass watches, and came across this one that was very reasonably priced considering what it delivers.

So far I have to say it's been "OK".

Pros:

I like the size of the watch (yes, it's huge), and it rides comfortably on my wrist. The compass seems to work well enough, although it must be carefully calibrated away from any interfering signals or metallic objects. The tide clock is OK but you need to update it weekly to account for small changes in the moon cycle - not a problem, and it came in handy on boat trips in tidal zones.

Cons:

The thermometer just doesn't work well. I can live with it reading a few degrees high when its on my wrist, but even after sitting overnight on my bureau it registers a good 10 degrees hotter than actual. I can buy a 5 dollar thermometer that does a better job than this! At night, and sometimes during the day, the extra "hands" can make it hard to tell the time at a glance. You have to study the watch a bit to make sure you are not looking at the compass/tide/temp indicator. These are really minor quibbles, but buyer beware. But the one thing that really bothered me was the fact that the small rod that holds the watch to the band has worked loose after only a couple of weeks, and it looks like a new part will be required. It's disappointing to find such a fundamental bit of hardware on a not-inexpensive watch failing so soon.

So in the end, I like it. I think it's good looking, and it certainly keeps time well. The extra features are fun and occasionally useful. I'd buy another one.

Customer Review: Great watch!

Excellent watch! Very accurate GPS that tracks pace well and does not lose signal. As mentioned, it does take a few minutes to link up the GPS, but once it is linked up, it works perfectly. My only complaint is that it is a unisex watch - but the wrist strap is pretty big for a medium frame woman. As a woman, even the smallest size is a little bit loose. I contacted Timex to see if I could exchange the wrist strap for a smaller one, and apparently the wrist strap it comes with is the only one that fits on the watch. In the end I decided I liked everything else about the watch so much, that I didn't mind a little slipping around.

Customer Review: Just not very accurate

I have been using this product for the last month on marathon training runs. I find that the GPS is not very accurate and the distance measure tends to drift high. For example, on my last 20 mile run the GPS was off by about 1 1/2 miles; it was accurate for some of the trip but gave me readings too high on certain segments. (I was running along a river with little interference from trees or large buildings so I don't have an easy explanation). Other than that the heart rate monitor works fine and the watch functionality is good.

I ordered this watch for my 12 year old daughter who has a very small wrist. It is hard to find a "cool" looking watch that is not a kids watch with characters on it. It is very sporty and has that "surfer girl" look to it. Very easy to program and the numbers are easy to read. She is very happy with it. It looks much nice in person.

When I opened the package I realized that this is definitely a woman's watch. That's fine, because I got it for my wife, but I was hoping to use it too. Then, within the first 5 minutes of having it out of the package, the battery door on the GPS unit got stuck and I broke it trying to un-stick it. I managed to rig it to work.

When I took it outside to try to acquire the satellites, I found out that the light that shows if you have the satellites is not nearly bright enough to see in the sunlight.

The watch is not medium sized as advertised, but pretty darn small. That's fine, but the main screen for exercising has three lines of info on it. The numbers are so small, you really have to look at it, not just glance at it like I am used to doing with other HRMs.

Other than those issues, it did work well!

So far I'm happy with this watch. I wanted something that would track my distance and stop watch. There are a lot of other features, but being a marathon runner I just wanted to track distance. Customer Review: Phenomenal, but with problems...

This watch is phenomenal. I wish they would have kept on evolving this model. It has unlimited expandability, however it does have some negatives. First, my crown (the pull in/out setting mechanism) broke after 3 months. It no longer turns on the light, nor acknowledges I pulled it out. I have to set the watch through the computer and it limits the programs I can use on the watch. The other is the developer community has dried up for this thing. Nothing really new that I can see out there. I have some great ideas for 2 programs, but just don't have the time to make them.

It would have been great for them to keep up the work on this and make it a little less "cheap" looking. Also, add a full higher res fully graphic LCD and it could get very interesting.

It gets 4 stars for being great, but breaking too easily... Great first try at this type of watch!

I love it!!! Works great and it is so nice to be able to skip to the next song or change the volume right at my wrist. No more twisting all around wasting energy trying to get to my ipod to change the song on my long runs. It's also great because I can use my nike+ arm band on one arm to keep track of my pace and distance and still use this to go through my music. I highly recommend it. :-)

I decided on this watch after reading many reviews to different watch brands. It was definitely the right decision for my lifestyle. The easy to read numbers are great for running and biking. Of course, the ipod feature is the reason I bought the watch. I have not had any problems with this which was a concern for me with new technology. I didn't have to do anything once I plugged up the adapter to my ipod it started working. I have been very careful not to push any buttons while in water thanks to previous advice from a reviewer. It was a little big for my taste at first but you get over it once you appreciate the extras for the price. Only advice would be the band could be a little shorter to fit the smaller wrist of a woman.

great HRM, functions well, and has great features. it was slightly larger than what i thought (which is okay for guys, but since im a girl, i wanted something a little smaller) and the user interface isnt all that intuitive. however, it gets the job done and that's all you really want a HRM to do.

Customer Review: Perfect exercise companian

I love this watch. I've had it for about 3 weeks now and it does it's job perfectly. I love the zone system. It allows me to run much farther and for longer than I have before because I don't exhaust myself by running faster than my body can manage. The beeping feature (that can be turned off) that features two tone beeps to let you know whether you need to slow down or speed up to stay in your zone allows you to pace yourself without having to look at the watch. This model features a bar at the top of the display that shows the lower and upper limits of the zone you want to be in and where you are within (or outside) the zone. This is particularly useful if you decide to turn the two tone beeps off. Not all heart rate monitors from Timex feature this.

The batteries on the chest strap and the watch can be replaced by the user - an uncommon feature I believe.

The chest strap is quite comfortable and picks up signals very well - my wife tried it and she had no trouble with it either (the strap sits on the lower side of the chest). I found that if I put it on about 15 min before I exercised, my body would generate the sweat needed for good pickup.

Some reviewers have commented that the indiglo feature where the numerals light up (rather than the face) made for difficult reading. I found that if I tilted the watch slightly (rather than place the face at right angles to the line of sight), the numerals were clearly visible. I think I prefer this to the old method of lighting the face.

It is a fairly handsome watch - a bit on the thick side (about 14 mm x 42 mm or so wide) - perfect for a man even for daily wear but certainly large for a woman.

It took me a while to decide on buying this watch. Lack of clear size information (their midsize, large and extra large size indications are meaningless) on the Timex website meant that I had to scour shops and call customer service a couple of times to have them measure the watches for me.

Customer Review: Dropped once and stopped working

I purchased this pedometer based on another person's review which raved about its durability. It worked great the first day until I leaned over to pick something off the floor at my office. The pedometer popped off my waistband, fell about 2 feet to a carpeted floor, and stopped calculating completely. Needless to say, I was disappointed that the pedometer didn't even make it through the first 24 hours and sent it back. I understand that pedometers should be "motion sensitive", but given the punishing that runners and hikers put them through, they should certainly be able to survive the occasional drop -- especially to a carpeted floor. I do not recommend this product.

Customer Review: Rugged, well designed pedometer

After trying a dozen pedometers, I discovered the rugged, well designed Timex 5E021.

The display is large enough to read easily, and the construction is sturdy. The belt clip never slips off. It clips securely to a belt or even the elastic band of a pair of athletic shorts.

Every other pedometer I tried had serious design flaws. Battery doors fell off, belt clips broke, and buttons were positioned so it was easy to accidently reset the units.

Many of the other pedometers I tried were overly sensitive to belt position. If the pedometer was too far to the front or back of my waist, the step-count and distance would be off by as much as a third.

By contrast, the Timex is easy to position (right over the hip bone) and is always accurate.

The reset button is positioned so it will not reset accidently.

Ok here it goes. The manual says it takes about 5 minutes to connect watch to satellite first time or if you move from your location by hundreds of miles - well; it took me over sixty minute to connect first time. The manual say every next time you turn it on it takes about 45seconds -it takes me every time about 15 minutes when I try to connect each day.

Then when I jog this over glorified stop watch disconnects from satellite on average every 60 seconds. And if you happen to be in stopwatch/distance mode it will not beep to let you know that you are disconnected. So you have to look at this dam watch every 15seconds to see if the mileage updates.

Speaking of "dates" the time does not displays correctly ether. It has dual time zones, but one shows correct date but hour is way off and the other shows time with one hour difference but date way off.

They advertise it to be water resistant up to 100 meters - but the manual say: it will not measure distance or speed under water and not to push any buttons because it may leak. I guess thay made it water resistant so then you though it into a lake it will stay there for next generations.

So this morning after running about 3 miles and the watch showing .545 mile I took the receiver and smashed it against the wall -there goes my $155.00.

Do yourself a favor, don't by it

Customer Review: Disappointed being it's made for a child

My daughter loved this watch, however, it is not made to withstand any sort of accidents. She had it only a month and accidental dropped in on the kitchen floor, it's linoleum... not hardwood or tile and the watch went haywire, started running random numbers and the function buttons will not work at all. Basically it's toast. Appears it is not the battery since the display still shows up. Being a kid's watch, you would think Timex would make it more durable than this! I bought it due to the Timex name in hopes it would be made to last longer than a few weeks.

My son has a fossil watch and he smashed it up when he feel off his bike onto the concrete. It's scatched up a bit but still works perfectly.

Bad: Isn't rugged at all. While hosing off my military pistol belt, I noticed that the underside of the watch crystal had started to form condensation; meaning that water had somehow gotten inside the "water resistant" watch after being exposed to a light spray. The tang buckle is cheap stamped metal and takes some work to line up with the restraining hole in the band.

For $5 to $10 more you can get a Timex Explorer watch.

Customer Review: Good enough for what it is

Pros: Timex has produced variations of this watch for years. The plastic case is tough and light, and the nylon olive drab band is rot-proof and durable. The back is stainless steel, secured by four small screws. Battery replacement is simple. The analog dial is very easy to read.

Cons: Not very accurate for a quartz timepiece. This item is no competition for the Marathon watches actually used by the military. Mine runs slow, so resetting is more of a nuisance. (A fast-running watch can be 'hacked' by simply pulling out the crown and waiting for standard time to catch up.) Also, the plastic crystal scratches very easily. Given these disadvantages, this is a rather expensive item in the casual sport watch category. I paid about $25, and you'll find some online vendors charging over $40. There are cheap, accurate watches out there for less that will do the job of this one.

Customer Review: Works good

Had it for a few weeks now, seems to work good. It did freak out for a second a few days after I got it by completely reseting itself... screen went blank for a sec, then came back. Everything works fine though. If you never calibrated a digital compass, then I can see how it could be frustrating. Also, of course the compass needs to be recalibrated every so often. If I really needed to rely on this compass to get me somewhere, I'd recalibrate it every couple of hours. But just for the gee-whiz factor of having a compass watch I do it once a week or so... or whenever I want a somewhat accurate heading.

Setting digital Compass:

Go outside away from anything metal. Start the little calibrate option holding the compass level to the ground. Spin in 2 circles SLOWLY! Finish the calibrate.

This watch will allow you to enter the difference between true and magnetic north if you want. I really don't see why you would unless you live in a part of the world with a large difference... Timex says this compass is accurate within 5 degrees, so it is really only good for a general idea of cardinal direction. N, NE, E, SE... ect. If you really care about if you're pointing 105 or 110 degrees, then get a regular analog compass.

Works very well. Nice that you can adjust compass reading to account for magnetic variation. Features seem to all work. Looks nice. Strap feels/looks good and is replaceable, too. Instructions reasonably easy to follow (except for compass directions which reference control buttons by names not clearly (if at all) shown on the diagrams). All in all a very satisfactory performer. BUT NOTE: my first watch was defective, failing several times over first 2 weeks; I returned to seller for replacement which I have received and put through a rigorous workout for past several weeks. I suggest you do the same, repeatedly testing all the functions to ensure it does not fail. The failure was seen by a sudden resetting of everything back to zero hour. That is Jan. 1, some years ago at 12:00am. Not good.

Customer Review: Timex say it ain't so!

I have always loved Timex watches, so my decision to pick this watch over the Suunto and Garmin was not a difficult choice. Unfortunately, I am less than impressed. The watch itself is fine, but I don't like the indiglo because it is not very bright. There is plenty of data that can be analyzed, but there is just something about the system that is no good. The GPS unit is finicky and doesn't always connect for me. The data recorder is small which is nice, but it is a pain to start the gps, watch, and data recorder and then run. There has to be a better way. The data recorder is a MAJOR disappointment when connecting to my PC. The cable is like a early 90s computer cable instead of usb that plugs IN the recorder. I have to connect the usb and squeeze the recorder to the cable with BOTH hands and hold it until it connects and downloads data. Sometimes this takes several attempts and often I have to start over when the recorder disconnects in mid download. The software is not very impressive either. I hate to say it... no it pains me to say it, don't buy this item. You have been warned.

Customer Review: Slightly flawed, but irreplaceable for serious training.

First, this has completely taken my training to a whole new level. I'm a medium distance runner training now for a half marathon. After using the speed & distance & heart rate monitor many times, I've started to get very familiar with where my heart rate should be if I'm going to have enough left to go the distance. And being able to see my pace in real time pushes me to make sure that I have *just* enough left, and not a bit more. My improvements in speed have been dramatic.

In terms of the actual product and features, I'd rate this as very good. The speed & distance GPS unit is extremely accurate. It takes a bit longer than I'd like (about a minute) to lock on to the satellites, but that's not a real problem, just a minor annoyance. Also, once, I fell after twisting my ankle. I stopped the chrono while I walked it off, then started it again when I started running. All of a sudden, though, I was doing 2' 55" miles. Needless to say, something was wrong. I stopped and started the chrono a couple more times, but still got similar readings. It wasn't until I stopped and restarted the GPS 45 minutes (and an alleged 15 miles) later that my pace started reading something realistic. That's only happened once.

The heart rate monitor works fantastically. I got a couple of spikey readings (240 bpm down to 0bpm back up to 240bpm) the first time I used it right at the very beginning. But I suspect that had more to do with the fact that I was still adjusting it on my chest since I had never used one before and wasnt' yet quite comfortable with it. Other than that one first time, though, it has given extremely accurate readings and has been invaluable in helping me keep myself at a pace that my body can sustain.

The data recorder has worked flawlessly except that it's a bit annoying that the data recorder and the chrono in the watch need to be started and stopped separately. At first this kind of bothered me, but having used it now for a month, I realize it makes very little difference if the data on the recorder is for a run that is for three seconds longer or shorter than what my watch reads. For training purposes, this has made no difference at all to me.

The worst part of the whole package is the timex trainer software. I suspect that in the HRM and S&D data over the course of a training run, there's a lot that I could learn about when my body starts to fatigue, how soon that occurs, and how that point changes as my condition improves etc. etc. I say that I "suspect" because there's no way I'll ever be able to find out using the training software. The graph it produces of an individual run is miniscule to begin with and cannot be resized. Also the scale cannot be altered. After all I'm not really interested in knowing much about what happens in the heart rate 0-160 zone, as I never run in that zone. I'd like to be able to set the HRM scale to 165-185 and the speed zone to... well, I'm not saying :-) Because only by doing that will the small differences in heart rate over a run appear large enough to see with clarity. I suspect the only way I'll be able to use that kind of data is by exporting it to excel. I've done that, but am not yet handy enough with it to see the kind of data that I really need in the way I want to.

In a nutshell, I highly recommend this product for anyone who wants to get a handle on what their body is capable of, and to improve it as well. It works excellently and I'm planning on keeping mine on when I run in the actual half marathon this april.

Over the years, I have bought a lot of watches and damaged/lost almost all of them, then, I bought myself this Data Link. This watch is sturdy and great looking.

The watch is a master piece. Its not just a watch but personal assistant on the wrist. All the functionalities it provides are very usable unlike the other so called Data watches. It seamlessly syncs up with Outlook and pulls in all contacts. There is no need to worry in case your cell phone battery plays tyrant. The 200 lap memory on the stopwatch is just great for keeping a tab on my running. The password protected notes section keeps the bank details safe and handy. Schedules, appointments, tasks, occasions, world time and what not. This watch has everything. The icing on the cake is that there is a hyper active yahoogroup on the watch, which keeps churning out new softwares for the watch every now and then.

The watch is completely customizable. You can select the programs you want on the watch and rearrange their order too. So if you need more memory for your contacts, the schedules can be bumped off and the stop watch can be reduced to just 5 laps. Marvelous.

One small glitch is that it can only sync up with one computer. So you cannot sync up simultaneously with your PC at home and office. If you try connecting it to a new PC, it resets all the preferences. This can be worked around by carrying all the required data files in a USB thumb drive. I have not tried this though.

In short, you need not waste time over the reviews, this watch is a steal even at $150.

Customer Review: If this is the midsize, where is the small? Band way too large

I'm a 5'9" small-framed athlete, and I could not wear this watch. There simply weren't enough holes in the band for it to sit flush on my wrist. Not to mention the strap is looooooooooooong. I mean, comically long. My 5'7" male trainer put it on and was on one of the first holes. If your wrist is remotely small, there will be a huge excess of strap hanging off the end, and due to the design, it would look wrong if cut off. I had to return it. Too bad - the face size is nice for a woman's small wrist, but with the seemingly dozen other holes in the band, I had to wonder - if you're using the outermost hole, well that would look ridiculous. The face would then look miniscule on that wrist.

The data recorder is an ok toy. I've had it cut out on me while it was supposed to be recording a couple of times. It doesn't link to the watch, so any timing infor from the watch is not kept. The PC program supplied with it is ok, would be much better if the plotted track could be coordinated with google maps or something of that sort. But it does a nice job of tracking work-outs and stores info in a very logical form. Overall I would just say that it is ok.

I bought this watch (TIMEX WOMEN'S WATCH/T5G341) to help me when I went to Europe where I would be traveling through several time zones. It did not perform. It is difficult to set to any other zone than the one which was on it when I bought it (NYC). When I went to re-check what the description said where I bought it, I could not find anything which resembled this watch or had any model or style model which I had expected to find on either my invoice or the watch itself. Watch out for fake watches. This one makes me feel as if I have been taken to the cleaners - but only for $35. sigh. I just happened to stumble across the fact that I had bought it though Amazon and was able to check my order history to find it again. Good luck finding a decent women's radio controlled watch. So far I'm happy with this watch. I wanted something that would track my distance and stop watch. There are a lot of other features, but being a marathon runner I just wanted to track distance. The pedometer clips on easy and you don't even notice it. I didn't want something that I had to clip on, but for the price and features, this watch is a good buy.

great HRM, functions well, and has great features. it was slightly larger than what i thought (which is okay for guys, but since im a girl, i wanted something a little smaller) and the user interface isnt all that intuitive. however, it gets the job done and that's all you really want a HRM to do.

Customer Review: Perfect exercise companian

I love this watch. I've had it for about 3 weeks now and it does it's job perfectly. I love the zone system. It allows me to run much farther and for longer than I have before because I don't exhaust myself by running faster than my body can manage. The beeping feature (that can be turned off) that features two tone beeps to let you know whether you need to slow down or speed up to stay in your zone allows you to pace yourself without having to look at the watch. This model features a bar at the top of the display that shows the lower and upper limits of the zone you want to be in and where you are within (or outside) the zone. This is particularly useful if you decide to turn the two tone beeps off. Not all heart rate monitors from Timex feature this.

The batteries on the chest strap and the watch can be replaced by the user - an uncommon feature I believe.

The chest strap is quite comfortable and picks up signals very well - my wife tried it and she had no trouble with it either (the strap sits on the lower side of the chest). I found that if I put it on about 15 min before I exercised, my body would generate the sweat needed for good pickup.

Some reviewers have commented that the indiglo feature where the numerals light up (rather than the face) made for difficult reading. I found that if I tilted the watch slightly (rather than place the face at right angles to the line of sight), the numerals were clearly visible. I think I prefer this to the old method of lighting the face.

It is a fairly handsome watch - a bit on the thick side (about 14 mm x 42 mm or so wide) - perfect for a man even for daily wear but certainly large for a woman.

It took me a while to decide on buying this watch. Lack of clear size information (their midsize, large and extra large size indications are meaningless) on the Timex website meant that I had to scour shops and call customer service a couple of times to have them measure the watches for me.

Customer Review: Poor use of money and plastic Better Choices Available

This product is no different than a regular 24 hour timer. In fact it is substandard and here is why.

This timer has 7 days around the perimeter.

But every few hours the timer turns on and then turns off after 3 hours. This is repeated EXACTLY every day.

So it's really no different than a 24 hour timer. Except that you can NOT set

the on and off times. They are preset.

I really am unhappy with Timex that they would foist a very

crippled timer on their customers.

Let me explain further if you don't happen to understand.

If you had a standard 24 hour timer you could set it to come on and go off at the

times that you preset. And then around and around it would go one time per day.

Turning on and off as you had preset it.

This product would go around only one time in 7 days. However it is pre programmed.

And that means that Timex has decided when it will go on and off. And to make it

worse. They have decided that at 6am every day it will go on for 3 hours and then

go off. Then at 6pm it goes on for 6 hours then goes off at midnight.

It can not be used for any intelligent programming because it's not settable. AND

a smart burgler who watched the house for more than one day would realize that

the light went on at the same time every day. Even though it's a 7 day timer!

Very substandard and a foolish purchase. I'm not happy.

Customer Review: Pros & Cons

I've had two of these watches now and I like the product overall, but with some tragic flaws.

Pros:

- The buttons are well laid out and easy to use while exercising.

- Has all of the basic features needed for exercising (set heart rate ranges, alerts, calorie counting, lap, alarm, timer, etc.)

- Good screen size and readability while exercising

Cons: (the tragic flaws)

- Nothing about this watch is waterproof. If you get your sweat into it, the buttons stop working temporarily (I strap it to my bike or put it in my pocket while running to avoid getting it wet).

- I went swimming with it twice to monitor my heart rate, both times it fogged the screen and once it stopped working for a week until it had ample time to dry out.

- After a few months, the heart rate is not picked up by the watch (don't know if it is the watch or transmitter). I first thought it might be the battery and had them both changed (watch & transmitter) but the problem persisted.

When I had problems with the first one, I returned it within a week and the store gave me a new one. When the second one experienced the same problems, the 90 day warrenty period expired and I was left with a flaky watch with no recourse. I (stupidly) bought another since I liked design and thought I just experienced some bad luck with the first two. I made my second purchase of the watch (it was on sale) and it worked fine for 6 months before it too stopped receiving the heart rate.

The price was cheap, so you get what you pay for.

Customer Review: Very good HRM.

This HRM does everything I need. Never have had any issues getting my HR to read out on the display. Works great and easy to use.

Customer Review: FIrst HRM watch

I wanted to get a read on my heart rate during my runs and when I was at rest. My rest rate is very low. The watch is easy to use and set up. The actual Monitor fits around your chest and requires a little moisture in order to pick up the Electrical Signal that makes your heart beat. If it is on snug and moistened I believe the rate to be 99% accurate. I read a lot of reviews before pciking this one the one that caught my attention was how easy it was to start using it.

Customer Review: Battery in heart rate monitor (Chest portion) dead in 2 days

I love the features of this heart rate monitor. It is a little complicated to program, and figure out everything that can be utilized, but it is manageable. The problem was that I gave this thing a good workout the second day I had it. I woke up early the next morning to head to the gym, and could not get a signal at all after strapping on the chest portion. I know sometimes people just get duds, but I was very disappointed. You don't want a downer like that when you're trying to stay motivated to achieve an exercise goal. It would be better if they had shipped the battery separately. The problem was fixed when I purchased a new 3V battery at the corner drugstore. I'm going to keep an eye on the battery life in general for this unit and will update the review accordingly. Overall decent value for the money but you might want to shop around.
