The Blast boasts an open-tooth saw design that allows easy starting and cutting on the fly, plus long wire cutters for a lengthy reach. Key User Features

The Blast features all-locking blades. To release the interior blades, all you have to do is press the grooved portion of the push-lock button and carefully rotate the blade. The regular and hard-wire cutters are located within the plier jaws, and the straight knife blades may be easily sharpened using standard sharpening methods.

To access the interior features of the Blast, just grip the handles and swing them open. Each interior blade can be opened using the nail nicks, and so can the scissors. When the scissors are fully extended, they lock securely into place for safety and ease of use.

Optional Accessories (not included)

The Removable Bit Driver Accessory is sold separately, and makes a great addition to the Blast multitool. This removable bit driver works by installing right on top of the integrated Phillips screwdriver blade. You can also add the Universal Tool Adapter to your Blast arsenal. This adapter is a standard 1/4-inch hex drive that locks in three positions.

The Leatherman Tool Group and its History of Quality

In 1975, Leatherman Tool Group founder Tim Leatherman was inspired by leaky pipes and a cranky car on a budget trip to Europe -- and thus the idea for his first pocket survival tool was conceived. Since then, Leatherman has become an internationally recognized company with hundreds of employees and a wide variety of durable, versatile, stylish products. Created with bold designs and truly rugged construction, Leatherman products are a perfect addition for tool kits, emergency sets, and glove compartments everywhere.

Customer Review: Quality through and through

This is a beautiful, useful, precision tool. I am an avid ocean boater, and I would never go to sea without my Leatherman. This particular model has possibly the most useful combination of blades and tools, including a ratcheted blade, which is invaluable for cutting seaweed kelp or tangled lines.

If you use the Leatherman in a salt-water environment, it is important to knock all of the salt off with a fresh-water (and soap) rinse. If you do this you will get years of service from your Leatherman. If you do not do this, you still will, but the blades will tighten up and become hard to unfold until you work them loose. Keep it clean.

This is a very nice tool and it makes a great gift.

Customer Review: How did I live without one? Beautifully conceived and made.

I used to think that Leathermen weren't worth the effort because I'd had a problem with the blades closing on me unexpectedly. The screwdriver blades especially can be a nuisance. But every blade on the Leatherman Blast locks, so that's not a problem.

I've been impressed by the spiffy sandblasted look of the blades and the solid feel overall. I had previously messed around with non-Leatherman knock-offs and didn't see the point, but the real McCoy is different. The knife blades is very sharp, something you don't often see.

I live on a farm and often have to walk long distances to fetch a single tool. The incidence of this has fallen off since I bought my Leatherman Blast.

This particular Leatherman is quite large and is best used with a belt sheath. (I like the nylon sheath because it's a little less bulky than the leather one.) If you're going to keep it in your pocket, you probably want a smaller one.

I've been carrying a Swiss Army Knife since I was 11, but I've retired it in favor of my Leatherman.
